Understanding Viewmodel Settings

The viewmodel in CS2 controls the visual position and size of your weapon model on screen. While it does not affect gameplay mechanics, it significantly impacts your visual experience and how much of the screen is obscured by the weapon. The four main parameters are FOV (field of view), and three positional offsets that control horizontal, depth, and vertical positioning.

Higher FOV values push the weapon further from center, giving you more visible screen area. The offset values fine-tune the exact position. Many professional players maximize FOV to 68 and use slight adjustments to offsets for the cleanest possible view.

Viewmodel FAQ

What is a viewmodel in CS2?
The viewmodel controls how your weapon appears on screen, including its field of view, position offsets (X, Y, Z), and which hand holds it. Adjusting these settings can give you more screen visibility.
What is the best CS2 viewmodel FOV?
Most competitive players use the maximum viewmodel FOV of 68, which pushes the weapon model further from center and gives you more visible screen area. The minimum is 54.
Should I use left or right hand in CS2?
This is personal preference. Some players switch to left-hand models to reduce visual obstruction on the right side of screen where they tend to aim. Most pros use right-hand.
How do I change viewmodel in CS2?
Open the console and enter viewmodel_fov, viewmodel_offset_x, viewmodel_offset_y, and viewmodel_offset_z commands. Add them to your autoexec.cfg for permanent settings.
